About Philanthropy

The Philanthropy Committee is designed to give members an opportunity to contribute to our community through donations and community service, and is also designed to promote environmentally friendly techniques for film production. Philanthropy Committee is also committed to contributing to DKA’s national service partner, SeriousFun Children’s Network.

 

SeriousFun is a nonprofit organization which funds and organizes summer and day camps for children and families with serious illnesses. Last fall, members lead arts and crafts, as well as helped

in sing alongs and water bottle rocket launches at a day camp event by SeriousFun’s “The Painted Turtle”. We also hold discounted headshot sessions to our school’s students and actors in order to give students great headshots for student prices and raise money for the organization.

 

Members are also encouraged to volunteer at marathons, such as the Nike Women’s Marathon and the San Francisco Girls on the Run Marathon. In Spring 2012, members ran in a Relay for

Life Marathon for which proceeds went to the American Cancer Society.

 

Episilon Chapter also uses our experience in filmmaking to help to make promotional videos for non-profit organizations. Although many people are happy to donate their time to a good cause, Philanthropy Committee makes it easy by organizing events for its members and giving everyone the opportunity to get out in the community and lend a hand.

 

Any DeKA can tell you, ater each oppurtunity to do good is fulfilled there is a newfound sense of joy and memories to last a lifetime.
