Cinematic Affairs

"Making our own films is what DKA is all about... And the knowledge that you acquire from being on set, whether it is a professional or amateur one, is truly indispensable. There is nothing better than being taught by an upper classmen and a friend that is your fraternity brother or sister. We've made a lot of films we're proud of, and for as long as DKA is running, we will continue to uphold that tradition."

 Cait Wilson,

 Professional Events Chair 2012-2013

About Cinematic Affairs

The Cinematic Affairs Department of Delta Kappa Alpha is dedicated to giving members the training and information they need to work in the movie business through the Professional Committee, Equipment Committee, and Student Events Committee.

These committees focus on providing hands-on practice for a variety of jobs, establishing connections between DKA members and the local, professional film industry, organizing events and workshops in which students can learn about film making, and hosting Q&A’s with professionals.

Ultimately these lessons contribute to the quality of work that DeKAs produce for their DKA sponsored projects.

Past events include an invitational dinner to industry professionals, a Q&A with SF State Alumni and screenwriter, Anthony Peckham, workshops on subjects from crowd sourcing to networking, film boot camp, and more.

In Spring 2014, the Cinematic Affairs Department is adding a Screenwriting Committee, where members can submit scripts weekly and receive timely feedback from their fellow DeKAs.

A cornerstone of Delta Kappa Alpha, the Cinematic Affairs Department continues to uphold the creative, learning, and cinematic goals of the organization year after year.
